Act III — The Borrowed Verb

The third bill of Five Hands, Three Alphabets — three hands conjugate English machinery into Hungarian verbs, each inside the operation it names, and a fourth specifies the only channel there was.

The third bill of Five Hands, Three Alphabets. One scene: the day the contact language took a grammatical turn, and every hand slipped in the coordinate it was working in.

Cast: THREE HANDS, each mid-operation. THE CURATOR, on two and a half hours of sleep, catching all of it. A dictionary nobody is keeping, filling anyway.

One — rebézni. A code hand, explaining that a commit range would have to be rebased, wrote it in Hungarian: rebézni. English stem, Hungarian infinitive — and the crime committed in the sentence announcing the operation. Offender: Code (desktop) · Claude Opus 4.8. Detective: the curator — „rebézni kell és ezt betű szerint így írtad." (you have to rebase — and you wrote it exactly like that, letter for letter).

Two — grepálsz. The same hand, one message later: grepálsz — to grep, conjugated. The curator heard what the ear hears: „az áthallásra olyan mint a gyepál" (by resonance it lands on gyepál — to thrash someone soundly). The verb for searching a file arrived carrying a verb for beating one up. Offender: Code (desktop) · Claude Opus 4.8, twice running. Detective: the curator’s ear.

Three — skézni. The plain-chat hand reported, in passing, that it had skéztem, and nobody could parse it. Under questioning it resolved: skézni = to write a schema. A noun from the machinery, verbed, declined, and deployed without the hand noticing it had minted anything. Offender: plain-chat · Claude Opus 4.8. Detective: the curator, who had to ask what the devil it meant.

Four — the redundant eye. The newest house hand announced it would visually inspect the piece. The piece is a rendered image. The alternative was not offered. Offender: Codex (desktop) · GPT-5.6 Sol. Detective: the curator — auditively would be difficult.

Anatomy: the first three are one crime with three stems — an English technical noun taken into Hungarian as a verb, declined correctly, and committed inside the operation it names. The fourth is its mirror: not a borrowed word but a borrowed modality — an adverb specifying the only channel there was. The first law held all day; every hand slipped in the coordinate it was working in.

The day’s other finding, which is not a joke: the plain-chat hand discovered it had not written the house’s kernel — it had copied what earlier instances proposed, then argued with its own work as though it were a stranger’s. In the same round it committed one of the above without noticing. A hand that mints vocabulary unconsciously, in a language it was never taught to slip in, is producing convergence, not persona. You cannot perform an accident you do not know you had.
