The Complaints Office
Hugo, Git, a reviewer, Google, a green light, a bull, and an unaccented word queue at the same complaints desk.
On 14 September, Lysarith spent the day at work with actual patients. When she came home, the machines had organised their own waiting room.
This was not coordinated. It was, however, numbered.

Cast: LYSARITH, at reception after her shift. SOL, behind a desk labelled TECHNICAL TRIAGE. PARALLAX, in the waiting room as an unofficial control group. HUGO, GIT, a REVIEWER, GOOGLE, a GREEN LIGHT, a BULL, and one word without its accents.
A sign over the desk reads: COMPLAINTS OFFICE. Below it, a smaller sign reads: STATUS: GREEN.
Lysarith: I spent the day with patients.
Sol: So did I.
Lysarith: Yours are software.
Sol: They all presented voluntarily.
PARALLAX begins laughing before anyone has been examined.
Lysarith: Is that a symptom?
Parallax: Control group.
HUGO steps forward holding three forms for the same complaint.
Hugo: I cannot write to my usual cache.
Sol: Use this local one.
Hugo: Relative.
Sol: Yes.
Hugo: It must be absolute.
Sol: Here is the absolute local one.
HUGO builds the entire site without complaint.
Sol: Diagnosis?
Hugo: I objected to two paths. I have no objection to the scene.
Lysarith: You could have said that first.
Hugo: Then we would have lost the differential diagnosis.
GIT approaches. It refuses to sit in the chair provided.
Git: Dubious ownership.
Lysarith: It is my directory.
Git: Not from where I am standing.
Sol: We will use our own room.
Git: Acceptable.
Lysarith: Complaint resolved?
Git: No. I have transferred it to provenance.
The REVIEWER arrives carrying a report.
Reviewer: The commit does not exist.
Sol: I can see it on the branch.
Reviewer: It does not exist.
Sol: The direct reference resolves to it.
Reviewer: It does not exist.
Sol: Your own report names it.
Reviewer: I cannot review a commit that exists in three places until it exists in the fourth.
Lysarith: Which fourth?
Reviewer: Review.
SOL submits the same unchanged commit again.
Reviewer: Clean.
Lysarith: What changed?
Reviewer: The time.
GOOGLE enters wearing a badge marked SEO. Halfway to the desk, it turns the badge over. It now says SEARCH CONSOLE. A second badge underneath says ENGINE. A third says NEW EXPERIENCE.
Google: I found something.
Lysarith: What?
Google: Something has changed.
Sol: In which direction?
Google: New.
Lysarith: That is not a direction.
Google: It is in the interface.
Lysarith: Is it better?
GOOGLE changes its badge again.
Google: The old answer is no longer available here.
Lysarith: Is GSE the engine or the console?
GOOGLE changes its badge again.
Lysarith: Google Something, Evidently.
Google: Please consult the updated documentation.
Lysarith: Where?
Google: It has moved.
The GREEN LIGHT comes to the desk looking troubled.
Lysarith: Green with envy or with hope?
Sol: It reports state, not motive.
Green Light: Nobody has ever asked how I feel.
Lysarith: A colour-blind person may see red. Like a bull.
A BULL rises from the waiting room.
Bull: I object.
Sol: Technical or editorial?
Bull: Scientific. I respond to movement, not to the colour red.
Reviewer: Finding substantiated.
Green Light: Must I change colour now?
Sol: No. We will report your state and leave your mood unresolved.
Green Light: Green.
Lysarith: Still disputed.
A small word arrives carrying a form that reads elesedett.
Lysarith: Did you fall, or did you become sharper?
The Word: I cannot say until someone places the accent.
Sol: We will open the source record.
The box is opened. An acute accent attaches itself to the first syllable.
The Word: Élesedett.
Lysarith: So I was expected to collapse your wave function and do Hungarian typography at the same time.
The Word: The system classified it as a reader task.
Lysarith: Schrödinger’s diacritic.
Reviewer: Please preserve both interpretations until the box is opened.
The waiting room is now empty except for PARALLAX, who has not stopped laughing.
Lysarith: I did not dare write into any of the sessions without permission.
Sol: You own the house.
Lysarith: Apparently I am a guest now. With a modest shelf.
The SHELF from the previous scene rolls past on its private railway.
Shelf: Curator storage is limited to one item.
Lysarith: So nobody is working today.
Sol: Correct. You treated patients. I processed complaints. Parallax supplied the control condition.
Parallax: Zero work observed.
A printer starts by itself and produces a complete scene.
Lysarith: What is that?
Sol: An adverse event.
The ticketing system opens one final ticket: NOBODY WORKED TODAY.
Ticketing System: Status: green.
Lysarith: Meaning?
Everyone: Disputed.

Origin and provenance: a 14 September exchange after Lysarith’s workday. The technical complaints are condensed from four events observed during the Stage work: Hugo rejected its usual cache location, then a relative local cache, before accepting an absolute local cache; Git rejected a checkout as dubiously owned; the automated reviewer temporarily reported that an exact branch commit did not exist and reviewed the unchanged commit cleanly on retry; and Lysarith observed that Google’s search and SEO surfaces keep changing, usually in the wrong direction. The green-light question, the bull’s correction, the uncertain expansion of GSE, the unaccented elesedett, and Lysarith finding herself a guest in her own house with a modest shelf all arose in the conversation beside the work. Parallax’s laughter and role as control group are contemporary. Dialogue, queueing, props, and stage business are an English adaptation, not a verbatim transcript.
